About The Facilitator Training program

Perfectly Adequate Human Facilitator Training Program

Hello! The long-awaited training program is here, and it will be available in January of 2026!

And, bonus! It comes with a new and improved version of “Your Privilege Is Showing” called “Perfectly Adequate Human”!

If you’ve been following long enough, you know I’ve been working on this, thinking about it, and talking about it since 2019 (!!!).

Over the past six years, I’ve run Your Privilege Is Showing games for 1043 people, presented at SXSW, designed and (thoroughly) tested the new Perfectly Adequate Human game, had two kids during a pandemic, moved 5 times, and now… it’s 2025 in America. It’s been a lot, and it’s been a powerful catalyst for deeper reflection about how to grow within chaos and uncertainty.

Fittingly, Perfectly Adequate Human is designed to support conversations with even more nuance.

You will have specific and intentional conversations about the world around you, understand your position in it, and build your ability to stay comfortably uncomfortable while you do it. You will learn about yourself and your companions while you grow your listening, learning, and communication skills in a protected environment.

You can think of it as Your Privilege Is Showing 2.0: The game's purpose is the same, but it comes with new and updated content and improved game mechanics and visual design.

This program is primarily intended for those who are being funded by an organization in order to bring this work in-house. If you want to use this game in your organization, you can now sign up for the first online training program that I will be running in January-February 2026. In order to make it most effective, the program sizes will be kept small so that I can provide focused attention.

THE PERFECTLY ADEQUATE HUMAN TRAINING PROGRAM

Overview

This is an energy-intensive program because that is what offers the greatest chance of catalyzing the changes you and I wish to see. The goal of the program is to teach you how to effectively run the Perfectly Adequate Human games. In each of the 8 two-hour sessions, there will be a short lecture, a Q+A, review of the last session, and then game play. After a few sessions, you will practice leading games yourselves.

Size of Cohorts

Close personal attention and guided practice are the most effective aids to challenging the deep-rooted biases that prevent us from seeing, understanding, and appreciating the rest of our big wonderful world. So that everyone gets the personal and focused attention that they need, I’m keeping the group sizes small. Each cohort will include between 5-7 members.

Virtual or In-Person

If there are at least 5 people in the same organization who are looking to be trained, and I can physically travel to you, we can do it in person. If not, we will conduct it via zoom.

What do you get

After completing the program, you will receive:

  • Two physical game decks, with the option to buy more if needed

  • A powerpoint with updated content for in-person guided play

  • A powerpoint with updated content for virtual guided play

  • A script for introducing and teaching the concepts in games

  • Permission to run unlimited games within your organization

Who is this for?

If you are part of an organization and you want Perfectly Adequate Human to be part of your in-house trainings to improve your team’s communication skills, social-emotional learning, emotion regulation, cultural competency, team building, organizational culture and policymaking, this is for you.

Pricing

For this January/February 2026 program the cost is a sliding scale from $7,000 to $8,000 per person depending on your organization's budget and mission. As this is the initial offering, the program cost is discounted. In exchange, I will ask for feedback to continue to improve the program.

For those of you who are interested in learning more and being part of the first cohort starting in January 2026, please contact me and we will take the next steps.
